Paragon Ashville Steel Limited Edition Auto

This unique automatic was produced by Paragon Ashville Steel in association with Randall King Knives and Gil Hibben. The ATS-34 blades were ground and polished by hand by Gil Hibben and Randall King made the handles and other customizations. The limited edition of only 50 knives feature handles of aircraft grade T-6 billet aluminum and a variety of custom insets of exotic wood, Mother of Pearl, Abalone, bone and horn.

The fit and finish is excellent. The blade grind and finish, as you would expect from Gil Hibben, is also excellent. These were obviously made and marketed as display/presentation pieces and even come with a acrylic display case with a mirrored back and bottom. As a user, the only fault I find is the lack of a safety. Although the auto button is recessed, I still find the idea of an automatic accidentally opening in my pocket uncomfortable.

This is one beautiful and well made knife and an interesting collaboration between Gil Hibben and Paragon. Well done.
